EXCIMER LASER REFRACTIVE SURGERY

Presentation

LASIK is a technique employed to correct refractive errors using the excimer laser. This instrument emits cold ultraviolet light that is applied to the cornea to polish the surface and change its curvature. This precise, pain-free technique enables patients to enjoy life without glasses or contact lenses from the very first day.
Several additional techniques are also available to correct virtually all refractive errors.

Advantages of laser surgery

It is a safe, precise procedure.

It is a stable solution.

Vision is rapidly recovered.

Hospitalisation is not necessary.

Requirements

Age 18 years or older.

Stable eye prescription for at least one full year before the procedure.

Myopia of 0.5 to 5 dioptres, hyperopia of 0.5 to 5 dioptres or astigmatism of 0.5 to 7 dioptres

Individualised preoperative study.

Myopia

Myopia is an eye defect that prevents the eye from clearly seeing objects at a distance.
The problem arises when the cornea is too curved or the eye is too long.

Hyperopia

Hyperopia causes blurred vision of near objects because the images are focused behind the retina. It occurs because the eye is shorter than normal or the retina is too flat.

Astigmatism

In astigmatism, both near and far vision is blurred because there are different foci in front and behind the retina. The condition is the result of elliptical variations in the cornea.
